Dr. Ramalingam has long experience in civil aviation especially in planning and development of airports in Airports Authority of India.
He was instrumental in developing Electrical and Mechanical systems in International airports during 1980-1985. He was the prime Engineering head on planning and development and construction of airports and Electrical and Mechanical systems in 120 domestic airports of National Airports Authority during 1987- 2000.
He developed the Information Technology department of Airports Authority of India during 2000-2005. He was Regional Executive Director, Southern Region of Airports Authority of India from 2005-2008.
He is associated as Director in Super Airport Pvt. Ltd to develop green field airport at Karaikal International Airport since 2009.
He is a researcher and published 40 technical papers in reputed journals and has been a co- author of a book on Power Systems Transients in 2010, a book chapter on Plug-in Electrical Vehicles in smart grid, 2015, and a book chapter on Solar Energy and Photovoltaic Systems, 2017.
He is a life fellow in Aeronautical Society of India. He is a council member of GLG.
He is a graduate in BE; postgraduate in power systems engineering, MSc Engg. Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. He has qualified post graduation in Financial Management, MFM from Central University.

Dr. Ramalingam brings decades of experience in civil aviation, with particular expertise in the planning and development of airports for the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Early in his career, from 1980 to 1985, he was instrumental in developing the electrical and mechanical systems of India’s international airports. He went on to serve as the principal engineering head for the planning, development, and construction of airports—and their electrical and mechanical systems—across 120 domestic airports of the National Airports Authority from 1987 to 2000. From 2000 to 2005, he established the Information Technology department of the Airports Authority of India, and from 2005 to 2008 he served as Regional Executive Director of AAI’s Southern Region. Since 2009, he has been a Director at Super Airport Pvt. Ltd., leading the development of the greenfield Karaikal International Airport.
An active researcher, Dr. Ramalingam has published 40 technical papers in reputed journals. He co-authored Power Systems Transients (2010) and contributed book chapters on plug-in electric vehicles in the smart grid (2015) and on solar energy and photovoltaic systems (2017).
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a postgraduate degree (MSc Eng.) in Power Systems Engineering, along with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. He also earned a postgraduate qualification in Financial Management (MFM) from Pondicherry University. Dr. Ramalingam is a Life Fellow of the Aeronautical Society of India and a council member of GLG.
